If you are building your dream home theater in your basement, ceiling speakers just might be the best solution. When you select a home theater speaker system, you always want voice-matched surround sound speakers to achieve the best possible audio performance, for example, when a sportscar speeds across your front left, center channel, and front right speakers, or an airplane flies from those same front speakers, over your head, to the rear surround speakers.

The most convenient way to purchase in-ceiling home theater speakers is to order a five or seven speaker package like those featured in the slideshow, depending on whether you are setting up a 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system.

You will need to separately buy a ceiling subwoofer plus an amplifier to power it -- perhaps the Velodyne sub and amp in the slideshow, or you could instead choose to go with a "conventional" floor-standing powered subwoofer.

You will need a subwoofer cable to run between the sub pre-out on back of the receiver and the subwoofer amplifier, and enough speaker wire to run from the sub amplifier to the sub and also from the back of the receiver to each ceiling surround speaker.
